Sully and I started early. She picked me up at 6:30 am on Friday. We stopped for coffee - as we always do- in Albany. Off to PDX to catch our plane to DC. Looking for long term parking - we find IKEA- no time to shop now.
We end up in blue economy parking. Never did figure out where the long term parking lot was. Note to self- check it out next time.
Get to the United area and look on the departures- oh, no - flight delayed and we can't make the connection in Denver.
We explain to the United Rep that Obama needs us. She quickly looks at the screen - well now quickly - we really think she is checking her email.
Great news. She can fly us to Eugene, then on to Denver and D.C. We tell the lovely young lady that we just drove up from Eugene. She says no problem - we'll fly you back. Once we explain to her that it would much better for us to drive back to Eugene and talk her into changing our return flight to Eugene. Success - sometimes United does give good customer service.
On the way down the freeway- we're getting nervous- flog and more flog. Wouldn't it be a bummer if we couldn't fly out of Eugene due to flog. Stop at Sully's house and Denis drives us to the airport. The flight's not crowded so Sully and I stretch out in 2 seats. Nice to get a nap.
We're on the way NOW.
Thanks Sully - she drives all the way back to Eugene. Denis drives us to the airport.

Mom and Sully, sounds like you guys had a amazing trip!! On the night of the inauguration we went downtown to a Irish pub and drank until the swearing in ceremony, ended up being about 2am Japan time. But I made sure to stay and drink because "Obama needed me!" People from all over the world were there watching and I kept telling people my mom is there right now!! Any ways I wish I could have gone with you guys!I know where I'm going in 4years!!!
